Actually, I don’t ever think there will be a men-only team of leadership in the Labour party again. People would look at it and say, ‘What? Are there no women in the party to be part of the leadership? Do men want to do it all themselves?’ It just won’t happen again.
President Ford was a devoted, decent man of impeccable integrity who put service to his country before his own self interest. He helped heal our nation during a time of crisis, provided steady leadership and restored people’s faith in the presidency and in government.
Leadership is not a popularity contest; it’s about leaving your ego at the door. The name of the game is to lead without a title.
Robin S. Sharma
To my mind the election was stolen by George Bush and we have been suffering ever since under this man’s leadership.
I love all sorts of music. I’m really into Damian Rice and Amos Lee.
I did Hilary Duff’s ‘With Love’ music video-slash-fragrance ad.
The thing I love about music is that you can take things that are painful, deep things that hurt you, and you can turn them into something beautiful.
When I was a kid, I went through a lot of musical phases, and one was when I’d learn everything that The Beatles ever recorded. After I started drums, I fell in love with their music so much that I just wanted to learn everything.
The coolest thing, too, is that people that have never even seen ‘One Tree Hill’ tell me, ‘I love your music.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, do you watch the show?’ And they say ‘No.’ And to me that’s even cooler because that means I’m actually starting to get country fans.
My father was a fighter pilot, so I moved around the world when I was young. Then I ended up in Kansas. I’d just sort of gravitated toward the arts, and I had always loved music and really loved theater even though I didn’t want to act.
I love conducting. What I’m tired of is music administration. I don’t want that. I just want to make music.
I think ‘pop’ can be a bit of a dirty word. People are very cool in Australia. They don’t like to admit that they like pop. There are people who listen to Triple J and cool stuff like that, but commercial radio is massive, and if you look at the sales of the pop songs every week, people love pop music.
When I’m not shooting, I love going on adventures with friends. I love zip-lining through rainforests and different natural habitats, and I love writing music on the side, and I love drinking coffee. I’m a big coffee drinker and go to a lot of cafes and stuff.
That’s the thing about music: It’s forever. Hopefully, you captured a moment musically that has a timeless quality people will find relevant to their lives at any point. That’s the whole idea about what I love about art and music.
Robert Coppola Schwartzman
I would love to do more music, definitely. That is my true passion. Dance is first and then music.
I’m just going to make the music I love to make, and I’m going to mature with my music.
We love ‘Fiddler.’ We love ‘West Side Story.’ I want to be in that club. I want to be in the club that writes the musical that every high school does.
I really love the ’90s. I love the music from then for sure, and to go back to New York then would be a really wonderful thing.
I would love to hear all types of Christian artists played all over the world. I’d love to hear good, positive mainstream music played all over the place. I’d love to be able to bring music together. But I have not deserted Christ. I have not deserted my faith.
To me, the concept of distance is not important. Distance doesn’t exist, in fact, and neither does time. Vibrations from love or music can be felt everywhere, at all times.
Europe in general is a great place for me, but specifically Germany has been very good to me. Germans love classical music… Electronic dance music is massive over there, so I’m kind of the marriage between the two.
I love everything, but I really love rock music. Incubus, Augustana, Nirvana, Chevelle, iHi-Hi-Fi, they’re my really good friends.
I started making music that I loved and was passionate and excited about, but it was really cool when I started touring to realize it’s an extremely diverse group of people who come out. In the front row, I’ll have everyone from a little girl in a frilly tutu, to rockers and gamers and older couples. I love it that it’s just everybody.
I’ve always loved music. I listen to music the way a lot of actors watch movies.
Knowing what I knew about Russia, as much as I loved the music and was fascinated by the songs and the whole idea of it, I knew it would be a very lengthy and frustrating process.
If we have any hope for survival of the music that we all love, compassion must replace name-calling, fairness must replace greed, and we need to come together as a musical community and try to understand each other’s problems.
I live cinema and passionately love music, and my efforts in both these crafts are unfolding.
That’s what I love about Nashville and the music community – seeing kids around acoustic music and bluegrass picking parties is the best.
It’s true that my mom loved it when I played Joanie Cunningham in the musical ‘Happy Days,’ but I think she finally realized I am never going to do ‘Oklahoma!’
I always loved Little Anthony and the Imperials. They were like the precursors of the Temptations. I loved their music.
Music is love, love is music, music is life, and I love my life. Thank you and good night.
A. J. McLean
I’ve always wanted to be a DJ so I could play the music I love for other people. That feeling hasn’t changed, but my sets are always evolving. In terms of tailoring to a specific crowd, certainly I do play differently depending on the situation. It’s a different feel, for example, in a small club versus a festival.
I think it’s awesome to see people of all different ages from all kinds of backgrounds come together for the love of music.
I love to perform, to give glory to God with my own brand of funky gospel music. I think it’s my mission to show people that God, that Jesus, can be cool.
Quite a few musicians came to our house. And my ma took me to hear many more, hoping to encourage in me a love of music. But she wouldn’t consent to my having music lessons, for she feared I might end up as she had done – unable to play except from paper.
Mary Lou Williams
From the beginning, I’ve always had a knack for catchy melodies. But I went through a period when I was trying to be rock n’ roll and have a rock n’ roll attitude. I was fighting my nature by trying to play really hard and sing really hard. But at a certain point, I realized that I loved syrupy pop music with tons of harmony.
I respect music, I do. I love it.
You’re in good spirits when you create and produce great music. All situations inspire music in different ways, man, from good situations, bad situations, depression, falling in love, falling out of love. I’ve been going through all those type of things.
Usually, when I see films that don’t have any score attached to them, I think they’re beautiful. I love just the naked sound of the voice. That’s already music.
People will always need love, romance, a tender touch, and really personal and deeply felt music.
I hope my fans will grow with me. I want to be like Michael Jackson: 5-year-olds love his music, and 75-year-olds love his music.
I love Cher Lloyd’s music. I didn’t actually hear her music as I was creating my own, but it’s cool that we have styles that are considered to be similar.
Bob Marley performed the ‘One Love Peace’ concert in Jamaica with the two different warring political sides. There’s always been that in black music and culture in general. It’s no surprise because black music is such a reflection of what’s going on in black life. It’s not unusual for hip-hop.
As a child, I was always very interested in music and had friends who were in the music business. I kind of accidentally fell into it and loved it. There was no reason not to – it was a great career.
I always wanted my music to influence the life you were living emotionally – with your family, your lover, your wife, and, at a certain point, with your children.
I love music, particularly Radiohead, TV on the Radio, The XX and Tribes – they’re a great new band from Camden and well worth a look at.
I’m a musician because I love it and it’s supposed to be fun.
I’ve no grand designs to conquer the music industry, but I’d love to be able to tell my mates that I’m playing in a pub in Camden one night.
I’ve always loved music and felt connected to it, but was too afraid to explore that avenue.
Especially now, with ‘Glee,’ it’s allowed a lot of kids to love music and performing at a young age. All ages watched ‘American Idol,’ but I think it was nice to be able to show kids, ‘Hey, you can be here, too.’
I always have music. I love it to be very upbeat. When you’re having drinks, I like something like Cesaria Evora. During dinner, I like the much more traditional – old Frank Sinatra and things like that.
I think music is a lifting force, I think love is the lifting force in the human condition. I think you see someone loving on their child, and it moves you, and you can’t help it. It rings a bell inside of us that elevates us as human beings, and I treasure that. I think it’s one of the few great things about human beings.
It’s about giving the people what they want. So many people have told me that they’ve made love to my records so what I’ve delivered this time is an album about sex. Pretty much every song has that theme. Straight no chasers, it’s booty music!
For me, visuals are as important as the music. I just love escapism and giving people something to escape to. To me, that’s what art is.
I have loved music so much from when I was little, and I don’t know whether it was because I saw my dad doing it and then I got the idea; I don’t know what came first… But I always had a hairbrush in the mirror singing. I was always with him backstage; I would go out and be pulled in for the last song.
Lisa Marie Presley
I first got interested in DJing when I was a little kid. I just love music… Music’s my passion; it’s always been my whole life.
Music is universal too. Even deaf people like to dance, love rhythm, and can kind of pick it up.
I grew up singing ballads, but what I really wanted to get into was the mainstream music on the radio because I really love the beats and everything.
When you are a real artist who is serious about your craft, you love good music. Period.
I love 50 Cent. I know it sounds weird ’cause a lot of kids might not say that right now, but I definitely want to work with 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Coldplay: I want to work with different artists that are going to push my music to a new level. Not just in urban music.
I’ve loved music always, and my music fire was lit by Elvis Presley, really, and all that was happening back then.
Maybe I’ll put my iPod in two minutes before. But truly, I’ve listened to actors say that they loved to listen to music before a shot, and I really understand that now because it puts you in the mood and gives you energy.
I’m doing what I do for the right reasons. I love the music that I make.
I’d love to claim the title of ‘songwriter’ or ‘intellectual,’ but the truth is that anything that I ever learned how to do in conjunction with music was purely so that I would have a platform to sing from.
I love playing music. And that’s what it’s all about.
There was always music in our home. My mom and my dad loved music. I remember when we were kids we would have these great parties at the house with congas and bongos and African drums, and it was amazing. It wasn’t until years later that I found out that they were actually Black Panther meetings.
Ireland and America, music-wise, are very closely related. The Irish came over with their fiddles in hand, and you can hear it in the bluegrass and rockabilly. I love it when music from different countries combine.
The great love of my life is music.
I love that period, between the ’20s and the ’60s. I love doing period pieces, and those eras are my favorite period in time, music wise, and the elegance and the way of being.
I worked with Snoop, but I would love to work with him again, but DMX… I would love to work with him as well… I met him in Atlanta; I went to one of his concerts; I would love to do a song with him. I respect him and really like his music.
I’ve always been a fan of country music. It’s America’s music – I love the songs, love the lyrics.
I don’t always have to be on what is the newest in music is. I’m slowly educating myself in music. For me, I feel more free in not knowing everything in what I’m doing. You can start making up too many rules for yourself. It should just be love and fun and feeling good.
I used to love ‘Jeeves And Wooster.’ That theme tune was great. I remember writing to them when I was little to get the music so I could learn it on the piano, and they sent me the sheet music.
Music is my love.
Melissa Auf der Maur
I’m totally into Taylor Swift. I think she has super-clever lyrics, and I love that she writes her own music. Some of the themes she writes about are stuff I wish was there for me when I was in high school, and I’m so happy she really cares about her female fans. She’s not catering to a male audience and is writing music for other girls.
Music is my thing. It’s my thing; it’s what I love. It’s what I do. It’s football to me; it’s Christmas to me; religion to me; poetry to me.
I’ve been writing music since 4th grade, and I love putting words together and expressing things in a way that you can move your head to and you can really relate to, because I have a lot to say.
My parents were big music fans, and my dad plays music, so I grew up with Madonna, Frank Zappa, the Beatles, Alice In Chains… it was all over the place. I had a Third Eye Blind record, but I also had Korn, Courtney Love, and Shania Twain.
I’m a people person, very approachable. I go out every night, tons of functions. I love all facets of this industry… Music, film, TV, books, art. I love being around creative people.
But Buddy was an upper. He was happy. He loved music, and he was really happy. I don’t know… I don’t believe in reincarnation at all, but if all that stuff is true, then he might have been on his last time around.
I have this massive love for the whole culture of pop music. It’s my fascination, my ongoing passion.
House music is about love, and lots of hip hop is about hate and intolerance, so in that respect, it’s not good at all.
I’m not really a musician. I’m a performer, and I love rock n’ roll. I’ve embraced rock n’ roll because it encompasses all the things I’m interested in: poetry, revolution, sexuality, political activism – all of these things can be found in rock n’ roll.
My big love was the Beatles. I was more into music.
I love all types of music. Jazz, classical, blues, rock, hip-hop. I often write scripts to instrumentals like a hip-hop artist. Music inspires me to write. It’s either music playing or completely silent. Sometimes distant sound fuels you. In New York there’s always a buzzing beneath you.
I always find music guys writing about love. Think of something else for a change. I’m sorry, but it’s been done, and it does work and it’s good and all that, but I think something else would be nice.
Journalism is my first love. But music comes in a close second. What’s important for me is that whatever you do, whatever your passion is, you should have another passion – something in your life. And when I put on that musician hat and I put the bass in my hands, I’m not Lester Holt the TV guy anymore. I’m just Lester Holt who likes music.
I always try to keep a little bit of space in the year to work with other people. Because I love doing musicals, films and plays – projects where I’m not in charge, where I’ve got somebody else telling me what to do and I have to work with their vision.
It wasn’t until my late teens that I really got into soul music and then I was like ‘Ooh, this is good!’ You’d always here it at old family parties, like, Gladys Knight and I’d always love it but I didn’t really get to know it and respect it until I was a bit older.
You can fill this table up with people who are racist, homophobic, Satanist worshippers, sexist and we can be arguing but if you put on a song, I guarantee that people will stop and listen and that’s what I love about music, it can bring people together.
If it came down to it, I wish people heard different records from me that I know give you a soul R&B sound of music that I know is really my gift, gift. But the ones that usually go are the records that radio, the fans and the clubs really love the most.
I’m thrilled that country music fans like my stuff, but so do a lot of people outside of country music, people who just love music. My goal is more to reach music lovers than to appeal to a genre. I love country music, and I’m proud to represent it, but I don’t obsess over it as a category.
My favorite type of music to sing is definitely those big ballads, I just love doing those power ballads.
When it all started, record companies – and there were many of them, and this was a good thing – were run by people who loved records, people like Ahmet Ertegun, who ran Atlantic Records, who were record collectors. They got in it because they loved music.
I think a lot of my appreciation for the Doors’ music, which I love, originates with my discovery of them through seeing ‘Apocalypse Now.’ It’s my second favorite film of all time.
I find inspiration in many places. Sometimes music gives me the kernel of a story. Sometimes it’s dissatisfaction with the plot of a movie or a book that gets me thinking. Sometimes it’s love of a movie or book.
I really love music that’s on the periphery of not fitting into a clear genre. I felt like I was constantly being described as something I didn’t really feel like I identified with.
I believe that if writers want their readers to care about a character, they have to care themselves. I have to root for a detective who screws up as much as Thorne does, who shares my birthday, my North London stomping ground, and my love of country music, both alt and cheesy.
I didn’t take music seriously in the beginning. It just kind of a hobby to me. It was something that I love doing for fun.
That’s what I love about our music – it’ll never be a hit because you can’t dance to it.
Jazz is not the popular culture. Jazz is in the same position in our culture as classical music. A very small minority of people really love it.
I still the love classic period, but also the baroque period, and even 17th-Century music such as the music of Monteverdi. He’s one of the greatest opera composers. He was the one who really started the opera.
I used to listen to Judy Garland all the time – I love Judy Garland and her music. But I started to realize that if you keep singing like that, singing songs of being victimized by love over and over and over again, it can’t help but have a profound effect on your life.
When I was younger, I was in love with everything about the British Isles, from British folklore to Celtic music. That was always where my passions were as a young girl, and so I studied folklore as a college student in England and Ireland.
That’s what I love from metal, and that’s what I love from hip-hop. That’s what I love from any music that’s hard, that’s got an edge to it-The attitude in it.
All my life I wanted to play music with love to every member of the audience.
I love the notion of a dude sitting there with an untuned guitar tapping his foot and just singing his passion out; that’s what got me into music in the first place.
I remember hanging out at Starbucks. There were these older guys who would sit around and play Crosby, Stills & Nash songs. I was just so in love with music. I would just go hang out with them, and I would try to sing and harmonize with them. I didn’t even know the songs.
We talk a lot on ‘Biggest Loser’ about how fitness is a natural antidepressant, how it burns off stress. What I like about running is that it gives me time alone. I’m always busy, with people at work, with my kids. I love getting out for a run by myself and just listening to my music.
The CD is now the wax album and so it is a collector’s item for people who collect music and love to look at the liner notes and feel paper. I don’t know what would turn them on about having to go through that terrible exercise of trying to open the packaging – it’s unbelievable when you’re trying to open a CD, right? You need a box cutter .
I have to tell you that I love people. When I see the kids coming up and see what they have done with the music, it’s amazing.
I love electronic music, and I love drum and bass.
I’ve loved musicals ever since I saw ‘The Lion King’ on Broadway.
I remember seeing McCoy Tyner in concert, and thinking that the music was incredible, but wanting to be invited in. I figured that humor was the way of letting the audience in. I’ve gotten a hard time about it, but I love to be funny onstage.
Most importantly, I don’t do music for people to want to be a singer, actor, or dancer. I do it because I love it and I want to show others you can accomplish goals.
People don’t appreciate music any more. They don’t adore it. They don’t buy vinyl and just love it. They love their laptops like their best friend, but they don’t love a record for its sound quality and its artwork.
The game Rock Band has been haunting me like a bad ring tone. It gets stuck in my head and momentarily effaces all that I love about music.
I love school and science; I also love piano and music.
Isaac Hempstead Wright
I do music for the love of it, and I’ve been doing it from a very young age: about 11.

That said, I’d love to do a musical, either in film or on stage.
I would like a man now who is rich, and who can give me a boat – a sailboat. I want to own it and let him pay for it. My first love is the sea and water, not music. Music is second.
I guess, for me, what started me getting real excited about music was the New York punk and new-wave scene. All those bands looked back to the Velvet Underground and the Stooges and the Modern Lovers as well. But that was back when Television were punk, and the Talking Heads were punk.
I love music; I come from a region of Kurdistan that is a base for music.
I can have a song with Ariana Grande that is going to be the song for all the kids and the teen girls, and then another song that could be for a different group of people who all love the song. I’m with whoever. Whatever type of people want to love the music and whatever they love about the music is fine with me.
I’d love to do something where I played a musician.
Since I first fell in love with choral music when I was 18 and began composing at 21, I’ve been listening to these recordings of British choirs. I just fell in love with that sound – that pure, clean, pristine sound – and I think it’s probably been the biggest influence on my sound.
I’m in love with music, and I’m pregnant by it. It’s like having twins. Or triplets. Or eight-lets!
My dad wasn’t the biggest role model, but he was a great musician and I loved him very much. He was a character.
I first fell in love with music when I was a little boy. When I first heard music, I felt the beauty in it. Then, being able to tap along on a table top and box was great, but my favorite thing to do was to watch records spin. I would almost get hypnotized by it. These things are what drew me in initially.
Narada Michael Walden
I think there are so many ways to become interested in music. I believe signs of sustained interest gives a sense of the right time. Music, if thought of as a language, would perhaps indicate that as early as possible is not so bad. I do believe that a really nurturing first teacher that makes the child love something is crucial.
I love music, so if I wasn’t singing, I would probably still be working in the music industry. I love songwriting, so I’d probably be a songwriter.
I love stage actors. There’s something special about all people who have to do a performance eight shows a week, and musical people, especially, are so much fun.
I love rock-n-roll. I think it’s an exciting art form. It’s revolutionary. Still revolutionary and it changed people. It changed their hearts. But yeah, even rock-n-roll has a lot of rubbish, really bad music.
Find a beautiful piece of art. If you fall in love with Van Gogh or Matisse or John Oliver Killens, or if you fall love with the music of Coltrane, the music of Aretha Franklin, or the music of Chopin – find some beautiful art and admire it, and realize that that was created by human beings just like you, no more human, no less.
My father loved all different types of music. He wasn’t a snob. He wasn’t a purist.
I like to play music; play guitar – I love that. Play some golf in the summer. Just relax, enjoy the summer. That’s nice.
I think every revolutionary act is an act of love. Every song that I’ve written, it is because of my desire to use music as a way to empower and re-humanize people who are living in a dehumanizing setting. The song is in order to better the human condition.
Zack de la Rocha
I’ve loved musical theater ever since I was a kid. My mother’s a pianist, and my grandfather was an amateur theater director and stand-up comic. And I was an only child. And I loved attention. So from an early age, my family was teaching old musical songs.
I was always artistic – right from childhood – but my love of painting came a bit later. It followed my love of music.
I hope that country music embraces me because I grew up on it and have a love for the music.

I don’t think I’d want to concentrate on just acting because I love music, and things are going really well, so I think I will always continue to make music.
In the film work, I love to work mainly from the script and from talking to the directors, so a lot of the music, big portions of the scores that I’ve made, have been composed before the movies were even shot.
The first Decline I did was out of sheer love and appreciation for the music. In 1977, it was more about bands, because punk was a new form of music. It was groundbreaking and political.
You know, I love plays. I love the smell of a theater. The old rooms and the carpet and all that stuff. I love to tell stories. Even before I was doing music, I saw myself as a director.
I grew up listening to pop music with my dad in the car, and we’d just listen to Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Earth Wind & Fire, KC and the Sunshine Band – all that good stuff. So to see it snaking its way back around again is really exciting, and I love listening to the radio.
I love stretching myself musically.
I’ve gotten to a place where I still love to play and sing, but I don’t have any ego agenda left, outside of just wanting to stay in a creative place and play music. I much prefer to sing for somebody else, and to somebody else.
If you don’t have any ties to the music industry, you just love ‘American Idol,’ you can sit there and do exactly what you do in your living room, which is stare at them and judge them.
Neil Patrick Harris
I love recording music.
J. J. Abrams
I love the Mexican muralists – like Rivera, Orozco – and the music of Walter Benton. They gave you a sense that reality was much more than life.
Billy Dee Williams
I love church buildings, particularly cathedrals, and I like living in spaces that remind me of music or evoke that creative energy.
I really do listen to all types of music, not only rock, but everything from good pop music – which is usually older pop music – to R&B and indie rock. I love indie rock more than a lot of the commercial stuff that you’d expect.
I grew up listening to Switchfoot. I love Switchfoot; they’re a great band. John Foreman is awesome. I really dig mainstream pop music, but I also have a heart for jazz and rock. Oh! Coldplay! I cannot miss Coldplay! I think ‘Fix You’ is one of the most brilliantly written songs ever. It’s, like, my favorite song of all time.
I love music and love a good audience and still have to make a living. Why would I quit?
Growing up, I put a lot of pressure on myself. I felt with The Beatles legacy that there was pressure on me to do music, and while I always loved music and it was always around me at home, I thought about doing other things.
That’s what I love. Not being interrupted, sitting in a car by myself and listening to music in the rain. There are so many great songs yet to sing.
I’ve got great joy from rediscovering Western music. I love Schumann and Chopin, and those amazing symphonies of Bruckner.
I loved the Cure and Bauhaus and the Smiths. The people in my town weren’t privy to that kind of music and I got abused. I discovered the microphone to get out some of that angst.
I didn’t have nothin’ going for me… school, home… until I found something I loved, which was music, and that changed everything.
I’ve always been a fan of Drake’s. I wouldn’t say I listen to all of his music, but I would say that I pick tunes out of his that I love and then put them on repeat.
My real interest in music was the old 78 records and the sound of the music. I loved it and began to realize that one of the main sounds on those old records I loved was the guitar.
There is a bit of a movement as far as younger people in country music. That is cool because people are saying things like, ‘I didn’t listen to country music until so-and-so came along.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah! Now you know why I love it.’
Some of my favorite films are musicals, like ‘Walk the Line,’ ‘The Rose’ and ‘Lady Sings the Blues.’ I just love the way the music and the story fuel each other.
I grew up listening to a lot of different types of music, and R&B in particular was something that I loved – Aaliyah, Usher, Alicia Keys, TLC.
I’d go over to my grandmother’s house, and she’d be playing opera. They loved opera. Not only did they play it on the radio, but they played it on their piano. Everybody learned how to read music and how to play.
My dad wanted me to play when I was a kid, so I learned to play the guitar. I pursued a career in music because I love it so much and I enjoy what it does to those who hear it.
I would hate to make music and people love me for something that isn’t me.
I find music distracting – it takes me out of my head. What I love so much about skiing is the peacefulness.

I love every kind of music.
Ultimately, I love making music more than anything. And I want to do that for ever. I don’t want be on the top. I just want to keep doing what I’m doing.
I personally love J.Lo because she’s a fashion icon and I love her music.

I would love to do more theatre, musicals… everything.
I love musicians. I think artists are the most amazing people because they’re constantly creating beauty for the world. With all the crazy stuff going on in the world, then there’s artists reminding us of our humanity and reminding us of our heart and soul and what really matters.
I had always loved music. I grew up listening to classic country, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard. My dad loved Vern Gosdin and Keith Whitley. So I kept going to class and started getting totally into playing guitar and teaching myself these songs.
I’ve had so many hot, cheesy, corny loves of music in my life. I had a very intense Billy Joel period. So once you’ve really Joeled it up – there’s some good periods of Joel; it’s not all hot cheese. But I can’t judge anyone else for their cheese. I’ve deep-sea dived in the Gouda.
That was a time when I did love music, I couldn’t get enough of what was going on. Maybe it was Nirvana that brought me back. I guess it was a comfort because something that sounded so right – and non-commercial – had become so influential, so immediately.
I think the main focus as a musician should be to play the music you love to play, and the rest is going to come naturally.
When I perform Strauss, it is as if the music fits me like a glove. My voice seems to lie in a happy area in this music, which is lyrical and passionate at the same time.
Kiri Te Kanawa
I think it’s important to really press on with the song writing and just go with it. There’s no code, there’s no craft… it’s just let yourself shine through your music. If it’s meant to be loved and heard, it’ll happen.
I am an actor, and although I love music, and at times can’t live without it, I eat, sleep, breath, sweat, and bleed acting.
Tyler James Williams
When I started off in music, I started with a real innocence, a real love for the instrument, the writing the songs, the playing the songs and the sharing and the recording and experimenting. It was exciting. Then, this thing called success came, and something happened at some point where I became disenchanted, and I lost the innocence.
I love clubbing – the abandon of it, the release of dancing, and being with my friends and the people I love. For me, it’s never been about going out to meet guys or to show off my latest dress – it’s the music.
I’m kind of a good girl – and I’m not. I’m a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect. I’m a bad girl because I like to tease. I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That’s what the stories in my music do.
I love seeing the fans of the music that I make.
I want to do a big Broadway musical, at some point. I would love to do that. To do something there would be super-cool.
The music I love to sing would have to be gospel – it just uplifts me, it takes me to a really good place.
I like to hang out with my friends. I love music. I like to go to the movies. I like to eat. I like to cook.
My father is a jazz musician, so I grew up hearing jazz. My parents loved it, but I didn’t like it. It went on for too long. Yes, I had certain teachers that really inspired me, like Danny Barker, and John Longo. And I had no idea that I would have any impact on jazz.
I love traditional music. But in any culture around the world, there is the historic and cultural music and everything that’s been passed down and passed down, and hopefully you take that, and then you take it, you know, the next distance, and then somebody else takes it the next distance.
Funny enough, there have been puppets in everything I’ve written because I have a huge love of puppets. There’s a big puppet musical at the end of ‘Sarah Marshall.’ I wrote ‘The Muppets.’
I love to have a bath with beautiful, relaxing music on and have no rush to do anything. It’s a wonderful indulgence, and it helps me to calm down and stop my mind running overtime.
I loved a lot of different kinds of music, but for my own thing, I went for the singer-songwriters.
I love to play music.
Hearing things like ‘Wake Up’ by Lora Logic, or the Raincoats’ ‘In Love’ – that was something I wasn’t prepared for. I couldn’t hear anything that came before it in the music, and I didn’t want to. I was absolutely in love with its out-of-nowhereness.
I’ve been making demos at home for many albums now. So over those years, I’ve learned how to record music, and I love being at home. I excel when I can make things at home.
There are plenty of millionaires who would pay millions to hang a Van Gogh painting on the wall, but hardly one that would have ever had the crazy nut over for dinner. I feel like the big companies are like that with musicians. They’ll say, ‘We love music! It’s all about the music!’ – but if a musician shows up at the door, they call security.
I gravitate towards happy music. I love the Beach Boys.
Everybody in Lynyrd Skynyrd loves different styles of music, and our minds are very open when it comes to writing our songs and making the band true to what the band is, but also stepping out and doing something current.
Johnny Van Zant
I love my complexion, but like so many of us, in the early years at primary school, I grew up thinking that my dark skin wasn’t a great thing. I’ve found freedom in music and songwriting, which has given me a freedom in how I present myself. I’m glad I’ve got makeup to celebrate that with.
I love music, especially classical like Verdi; it’s a great way to relax.
My view is that musicals are love stories with great final scenes. It’s just that simple. Musicals are also conflicts between two worlds. And by those criteria, ‘The Color Purple’ is actually exactly the kind of story that makes for a great musical. Yes, it’s got hard stuff in it, but so does ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘Phantom of the Opera.’
You must play for the love of music. Perfect technique is not as important as making music from the heart.
It’s really important to me that my niece and nephews can come and see my show, as can my grandad and nan. I love spending time with my family, and music has always bonded us.
People tend to forget that celebrities are human beings. We live our lives. We try to do what we love, which is music. And to share it with everyone in our job usually is to entertain and to make people forget their troubles.
I hitched up to Haight-Ashbury in the Summer of Love, you know? And I was very much politically aligned with that whole mentality, the whole ideology of that generation, the music, the culture, the behavior.
I really, really love new work, and that’s why, you know, I produced a concert series supporting new musicals and stuff like that. I hope to do more things like that.
I want to be in a musical. I love music, and just to be able to mash the music and the acting together, it would be just incredible.
I use rock and jazz and blues rhythms because I love that music. I hope my poetry has a relationship with good-time rock’n roll.
My music is about the journey, about love and the human experience.
I did not fire Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. I cannot fire Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. I am not his employer. I do not have such authority. And even if I did, I would never fire Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. I love Brian Wilson. We are partners. He’s my cousin by birth and my brother in music.
I think, for a love story, the most important element is the music, since you don’t have action sequences or item numbers. It really draws in the audience and adds to at least 70 percent of the opening of the movie.
I love musicals – that’s probably one of my most gay traits: that’s one of my giveaways!
I love writing for dancers. You don’t have to worry about the lyrics. I think to write words without music must be so frustrating. It must be always be so good, so perfect.
I’m the biggest music lover in the world. I mean, I have seen everybody. I went on tour with Michael Jackson and the Jacksons four or five times.
I want my fans to love themselves. It’s almost like I want to hypnotize them so when they hear my music they love themselves instantly.
I’m a country singer. I love all kinds of music, but country is where my loyalty lies. That’s just me and what I do, and I’m not going to change it.
Sometimes when I get home after a long day, I’ll turn on music – I love Latin, disco, and pop – and do my own workout, even if it’s a short one. Know a good song to work out to? ‘I Will Survive.’
I still love a variety of kinds of music.
In the 1950s in the United States, few music lovers were listening to chamber music. Daddy played Bach and Haydn on our phonograph for me. Not only did I become familiar with the form; he discussed the concerti. My own head start. My own Head Start.
I’ve been reading scripts where they’ve been doing a lot of singing now, but within the dark, realistic story line. I would love, love, love, love to do that. But not a musical on Broadway, I don’t have that kind of energy or stamina.
My first transistor radio was the heart of my gadget love today. It fit in my hand and brought me a world of music 24 / 7.
I am permanently a student of people who make great songs, but besides sort of learning by absorption, I just love listening to music, hearing what’s going on, hearing new things or new old things.
Being a musician, people ask you a lot about what musicians inspire you, and there’s plenty of musicians that I love and respect, but I think that I’m the most inspired by cinema.
Taylor Swift dates guys so she can write a breakup song about them. I don’t think she’s dating for love – I think she’s dating for creativity. So let’s get her off the market and put her in dating detox. If she really wants love, she has to stop writing music about them.
Lots of people, from what I can see, just want to get into the music business for the glamour of it. But there isn’t any, really. It’s so up and down this industry, but if you really love it, nothing can stop you.
I have fans, and I have family that love me, and I have my music, and I have my breath going in and out.
When I was in school, you could pick any instrument you want, and they’d teach you how to play it. That changed my life. I loved playing music in school, and it sent me on my path as a musician.
I’ve been musically inclined since I picked up an instrument in the fourth grade. I just really appreciate music. I love to listen to it; I love to sing. I wouldn’t consider myself, like, a natural singer. I just developed it over time, honestly, just listening. I’m a great listener to music.
I was definitely Theater-Band Geek/Straight-Up Boss Subgroup C. I was really into band and theater and super into music at the time. I loved performing arts, and that would definitely be my group.
I write plays, and I have a musical that’s starting to get produced now. That’s what I would love to do, but it’s so hard. The only reason people are reading my plays and musicals is because I’m in movies.
I was a piano player. I love piano playing. I just love all music.
My fans saw ‘Roll Bounce,’ but also that older crowd who might not have been familiar with me on the music tip saw ‘Roll Bounce’ and loved it. ‘Roll Bounce’ opened up that door for me to have older people love Bow Wow and opened up that door so all of the kids would love Bow Wow. My fan base is really diverse; it’s all ages and all colors.
I can tell you, dearest friend, that if it became known how much friendship, love and a world of human and spiritual references I have smuggled into these three movements, the adherents of programme music – should there be any left – would go mad with joy.
I loved the atmosphere of the dance studios – the wooden floors, the big mirrors, everyone dressed in pink or black tights, the musicians accompanying us – and the feeling of ritual the classes had.
I turn on the radio. I’m a really big fan of old-fashioned dial radio. I love WNYC and NPR and also 88.3 in New York, which is the jazz station, and it’s usually good for background music. If I’m not in New York City or by a traditional radio, I’ll stream it on my phone, although I usually try not to look at my phone first thing in the morning.
No one dislikes LL Cool J. If you meet LL Cool J, you fall in love with LL Cool J. LL and I had mutual friends, and he and I had always talked about doing something. My fans know LL’s music. And I love him – we’re blood brothers at this point. We’ve been through the fire together. I know no finer person.
In the long, nonillustrious history of white people pilfering African American culture, have I just perpetrated that? I’m motivated by a love for the music and by a love of the performances, and I really hope I haven’t done anything bad.
When I do a festival, I want everyone to have a party, I think it is kind of similar to a club where everyone is there to have a good time and celebrate not being at work or just being able to have fun. I love people dancing to my music as well; if I can make them dance I feel happy.
I loved Roy Acuff with all my heart, and I never dreamed I’d be able to meet him or see him onstage, or especially become good friends with him. For all this to happen, it’s hard to explain what a dream this is when you love something as much as I love traditional country music.
My passion for music is one of my greatest loves.
Of all the parts that make up my somewhat quirky life, there are few things that raise a stranger’s eyebrows faster than discovering I love country music.
I love entertaining people, I love playing music, and I love rocking like an animal. But at a certain point, you’re playing gig after gig after gig, in town after town after town, and you’re lying down, staring at another hotel-room ceiling, and it’s like, ‘I want to be home. I’m a dad. I’ve got kids.’
I’m very into Taylor Swift. From her music to her wardrobe, she is absolutely killing it. Also, she has adorable cats that I would love to pet.
I love pop music because you can really see what’s currently happening in society.
Marina and the Diamonds
I am a lover of all sorts of different music. I love blues and every piece of music that I have listened to has become an influence.
I love working with an orchestra, but there are many ways to make music.
‘American Music’ is an inventive, passionate, pithy novel whose major theme is love itself and whose minor theme, music, is an emotional, meaningful counterpoint. Like Count Basie and His Orchestra, this book swings.
I love classical. I have a lot of, like, Bach and Mozart and stuff. Then you flip on over, and I’ve got, like, Kanye West and, you know, just a bunch of – I am very eclectic. I love every sort of music.
The bottom line is that musicians love to make music and always will.
My family wasn’t in the music business, but they loved music.
Under the spell of the right song, passion is within reach… love is close by… and you are not alone! With such potency, music should be treated with care. The sound, the feel, the presentation… everything! It is a medicine. It is a teacher!
Yeah, exactly, you can talk about politics in music, you can talk about something else, but that’s always going to change, and love is never going to change.
I come from a world of hip-hop, but I love all types of music, and that’s what Revolt will reflect. It will be home to electronic dance music, pop, hip-hop.
I’m having a blast being the music director at the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. It certainly is challenging for me, but I love challenges.
I love music. It’s freedom, a way to deal with pent-up frustration.
The music itself is very challenging, so I’ve never really felt the lack of stimulation. I love to be creating; I love to be making things and solving problems, I suppose, and when I’m not, then I’m not an incredibly good person to be around. If I’m not busy, then I think I would be disaster. That’s just the way things are.
I like Jailhouse Rock and Love Me Tender. The black-and-white films. With music, I tend more toward the ’70s stuff because I was at the shows for those, so they bring back memories.
Lisa Marie Presley
DJ Sliink is amazing, and his production is on the next level. There are a lot of EDM producers that I’d like to work with, not for the sake of having an engineered record, but for the fact that I love their production and music.
I’m a guitar player, really – I mean, first and foremost – I grew up with all that great 1960s music, in terms of growing up, becoming a musician, so it’s like first-love stuff; I’m always going to go back to it.
I’ll never stop acting, but music is another passion of mine. I just love creating projects in the entertainment field and performing onstage or in front of a camera.
What I loved with Billie Holiday is she had a good way of parlaying the sorrow with a positive musical twist.
Sometimes with pop music, you have to see it to love it. With soul music, it’s sparse. There’s nothing that’s pretentious or planned. It’s just so gutsy.
Musicians play music because you love… I loved to play drums since I was five. It’s all I ever wanted to do. Rock stars, or as we call them, posers, guys who want to just look great, dress great. They’re not musicians; they’re looking for the fame.
I love punk rock, The Clash, The Ramones, The Cramps. I love where it all came from, and music for my ears now, it has to have that same electricity, adrenaline and danger.
I love all types of music. I love top 40 dance pop, hip-hop, I don’t even know what they call it now. I’m a huge fan of all that.
I love to look back, but I don’t want my music to be nostalgic. I want it to have the same vibrancy that the music I love had when it came out. I’m trying to get that electricity.
What I love the most is getting on the ice and just popping in a fabulous CD and skating – all by myself, the rink completely empty, just me and the music.
I love classical music; I love the way it’s worked… all those chord sequences so I often use that sort of effect in my solos.
I’m really very glad that I had skating to be my love and my escape. I think that it always gave me something that made me feel good, and it was music, and it was peaceful, and not a lot of the other stresses of life.
Both of my parents are actors and directors and whatnot. My dad loves really solid, old school, Broadway musicals, and one of them is ‘Assassins’ by Stephen Sondheim. All of the successful or non-successful assassins that have ever existed in the United States come together, and they talk about their killing or attempts through songs.
I got involved in music because I love everything about it, but now I’m in it you see the other side and it isn’t much fun. Not as glamorous and enjoyable as you imagine.
I went through a phase when I was 13 where I would only fall in love with people over the age of 19 or 20. I never had a real relationship with any of these people, but it was definitely the guy I wanted to hang out with and wanted to go on trips with. I would be like, ‘But, Daddy, he’s a musician!’.
I love Beyonce. She’s so fierce. I also love Lily Allen, and she was an influence on my music.
And for the past 10 years I’ve been in a real commercial setting where people are all about numbers, they’re all about that bottom line. So it’s nice to step out of that and hang out with a bunch of people who play music just because they love it, as you can imagine.
Lee Ann Womack
I think it had something to do with my love of music, especially rock music.
Oh man, I love what the South brings as far as the soul, and I really have noticed from even the early days of listening to OutKast and Goodie Mob that Atlanta and the South has a diverse sound to it. You have bounce music. You have soulful musicians. You have artists with vocals who try to do different things.
Tons of musicians who I love are imprisoned by their identity. That can be totally fine because they are so amazing in their technique, but for me, I’m a little too restless for that.
I would love to do a musical so hopefully I will be blessed with doing one.
I joke to people in the press that I realize I’m not black, I’m actually white. But I’ve got these roots in black American music. I love it.
I’m my own favorite artist, but I love everybody’s music.
I’m very proud of my love for Whitney Houston. She really changed my life. She made my life a better life. She was so beautiful in her love for God, her love for her family and her love for music. She truly loved her music. She could do everything! She had flawless rhythm, flawless pitch, flawless feeling, and flawless beauty.
Narada Michael Walden
I love the conversation between film and music.
I ended up doing a local AmDram musical when I was nine or so. We had to sing and dance and act. It was probably terrible, but I loved it.
I wish I had the guts and talent to be a good comedian. I love the idea of it, yet I’m terrified of it. I’d also love to play music in front of people.
I play bass. I play a bit of guitar. I’ve never been to a lesson, so my theory of music is non-existent in any instrument, but we always had guitars around. My dad taught me to play drums for ‘Love Actually,’ and I still play drums now. But I’m not a ‘drummer.’ I’m not a ‘guitarist.’ I’m trying to be a bassist.
I love form, but I’m not interested in forms. I’ve never written a sonnet or villanelle or sestina or any of that. For me, it’s a kind of line. It’s a rhythm. It’s something musical.
I have terrible taste in things: music, movies, TV shows. I love all the guilty pleasures: Bravo, ‘Real Housewives.’
I think Paris smells not just sweet but melancholy and curious, sometimes sad but always enticing and seductive. She’s a city for the all senses, for artists and writers and musicians and dreamers, for fantasies, for long walks and wine and lovers and, yes, for mysteries.
M. J. Rose
I’ve always loved to paint – I was studying to do an art degree when I was approached to become a model – and I’ve being doing some design work as well. I also love just having a quiet time, sitting in my little library at home in Brooklyn and reading or watching documentaries or listening to music.
I just loved the guitar when it came along. I loved it. The banjo was something I really liked, but when the guitar came along, to me that was my first love in music.
When I look at music, everything is blurred, and I like it that way. I grew up like that, hanging out with different types of people who listened to so many different types of music. I never wanted to be part of any one clique. I loved it all.
And my father was a comic. He could play any musical instrument. He loved to perform. He was a wonderfully comedic character. He had the ability to dance and sing and charm and analyze poetry.
I love hip hop music, I make hip hop music.
I love to get to that place where I don’t know what kind of music I’m doing; I don’t know if it’s any good. I don’t know if it’s anything. It’s a big question mark. The idea is to have interesting results. That’s my bottom line.
I would love to document the Roots; I think they have an interesting story. I have a curiosity about them. Their musicality and their live performances I think would be great, and I have a feeling that there are stories behind each one of them.
I love music, and I loved dance music immediately. So I bought some equipment and started making my own. When I started this, I didn’t say, ‘okay I’m going to do this step and then this step’ to become popular. I just created music that I loved.
Armin van Buuren
People love events – they love performances, they love music – and I think Australians are great entertainers.
I know that one day I would love to do a musical.
I love the life of a musician but I live the life of a bodybuilder.
When I was young, my parents made me listen to old music and watch Jimmy Durante. I fell in love with the whole mystique of acting and entertainment.
I’ve always thought of acting as more of an exercise in empathy, which is not to be confused with sympathy. You’re trying to get inside a certain emotional reality or motivational reality and try to figure out what that’s about so you can represent it.
Operas elucidate, in a way sometimes absent in other theatrical productions, the very human fact that in every hero, there is a thread of duplicity. In every villain, there is another side to consider: We don’t have to like him or her, but we are compelled to think about motivation.
The motivation should come from regulatory enforcement, but enforcement is weak, and environmental litigation is near to impossible. So there’s an urgent need for extensive public participation to generate another kind of motivation.
Obstacles to job creation in America are a result of policy, not of motivation.
Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.
Music can be useful during training to help get you psyched, and I still listen to music on easy climbs or in the gym. But during cutting-edge solos or really hard climbs, I unplug. There shouldn’t be a need for extra motivation on big days, be it music or anything else. It should come from within.
The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.
Part of my motivation for writing mysteries for young people is that I loved mysteries when I was growing up, and now that I’m on the creative end of things, I’m discovering that they’re even more fun to write!
Wendelin Van Draanen
Do not weep; do not wax indignant. Understand.
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.
I like to put on hardcore when I have to clean my apartment, which I hate to do, but it’s motivational. I like old heavy metal when I’m outside working on my car. Music has definite functions for me.
The motivation part is all essential in keeping my voice, but there are the human factors of discipline.
The biggest problem in rock journalism is that often the writer’s main motivation is to become friends with the band. They’re not really journalists; they’re people who want to be involved in rock and roll.
Never retreat. Never explain. Get it done and let them howl.
It is very important to know who you are. To make decisions. To show who you are.
Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.
I love to run. When the weather’s bad, I should get on the treadmill in the basement gym of my apartment building, but I lack the motivation.
Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

What is called genius is the abundance of life and health.
Henry David Thoreau
The ultimate aim of the ego is not to see something, but to be something.
I think sometimes I guess you see records, say you want to get there and use that as motivation. In a way, it’s kind of cool if there is a possibility to rewrite history and be up there with the greats of Olympic history.
One way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals.
I was always curious about motivation and intention, and really, that’s a lot of what acting is.
Either I will find a way, or I will make one.
I can’t conceive of cooking in a sunny place like Florida because my motivation comes from the changing seasons. That’s why I decided to live in New York.
An employee’s motivation is a direct result of the sum of interactions with his or her manager.
Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.
Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.
Pope John XXIII
Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another.
The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.
I used to think that if someone gained their weight back, it was my fault, but all I can do is be God’s motivator and try to instill the motivation in others so they do it themselves.
You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.
When you have good runners, you always run fast. That’s the motivation for me. But I have room to improve in my technique and in the start.
Whatever you want in life, other people are going to want it too. Believe in yourself enough to accept the idea that you have an equal right to it.
Real obsession needs an unconscious motivation behind it.
I don’t need any more motivation. I’m fighting Canelo Alvarez. If that can’t get me motivated, then I’m in the wrong sport.
The last two years we got beat in this round. They came out with the motivation to win.
In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.
Learning is the beginning of wealth. Learning is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spirituality. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins.
Vanity is great motivation, to be fair.
Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.
But I find with Francis Bacon, some of the things were in the place, and someone who was connected with these schools of thought, and someone who had a motivation that equals the scope of the comedy and the tragedy in the plays.
There’s a way to do it better – find it.
Thomas A. Edison
I don’t know if there are words to describe my motivation.
A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.
Crave for a thing, you will get it. Renounce the craving, the object will follow you by itself.
The will to succeed is important, but what’s more important is the will to prepare.
I’d say the most memorable thing for me was my dedication and motivation in how I got so involved in boxing.
When an actor comes to me and wants to discuss his character, I say, ‘It’s in the script.’ If he says, ‘But what’s my motivation?, ‘ I say, ‘Your salary.’
One of the thrills of playing at the top tennis centres of the world is to see the Indian flag go up whenever I’m participating in these events. That’s enough motivation for any Indian who has the opportunity to perform at these tournaments.
The more we do, the more we can do.
The turning point was when I hit my 30th birthday. I thought, if really want to write, it’s time to start. I picked up the book How to Write a Novel in 90 Days. The author said to just write three pages a day, and I figured, I can do this. I never got past Page 3 of that book.
The motivation is important for me to act it, but I don’t necessarily want the audience to know my motivation.
Do whatever you do intensely.
Follow your dreams, work hard, practice and persevere. Make sure you eat a variety of foods, get plenty of exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Motivation, passion, and focus have to come from the top.
You can look for external sources of motivation and that can catalyze a change, but it won’t sustain one. It has to be from an internal desire.
I know Elon, we’re very like minded in many ways. We’re not conceptual twins. One thing I want us to do is go to Mars, but for me it’s one thing. He’s singularly focused on that. I think motivation wise, for me I don’t find that Plan B idea motivating. I don’t want a plan B for Earth, I want Plan B to make sure Plan A works.
My principal motivation is supporting my family, which is not a bad reason for getting up in the morning. That’s always been my motivation – to take care of the people who rely on me.

We had an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth and I think if that’s not enough motivation I don’t think you should be playing this game.
The personality problem is so tough when you’re not able to pay people. It’s bad enough when you can pay people, but, when you have people working for free, often their motivation is diminished considerably.
You want an audience. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be a writer. The biggest motivation to write is the knowledge that someone will read it.
If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.
Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.
Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you.
Hopefully my books are improving. One of the ways I find motivation to improve is looking at someone who is already at a high level and continues to get better with each book. That’s really what you want to emulate.
Expect problems and eat them for breakfast.
Alfred A. Montapert
The people who influence you are the people who believe in you.
I believe that if your primary motivation in life is to be moral, you don’t become an artist.
At the beginning of my career, my desire to understand was associated with a profound desire to act, with the wish to influence opinion and policy; but, over the years, this motivation has come to be of secondary importance, far behind my desire to understand.
It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
